The Samsung Family Hub fridge's 21-inch touchscreen is the kitchen's command center. It's also arguably the most expensive refrigerator available (though it isn't necessarily the most expensive -- that distinction goes to the company's chef-focused Collection refrigerator which starts at $5,500).
The fridge is futuristic however it's not a drastic deviation from how we've utilized fridges in the past. After all, a refrigerator has always been an office for busy families, acting as an area to display calendars reports, report cards, and to-do lists, reminding us about soccer practices, or just to write down items we'll need to purchase.
Samsung's app comes with many of the same features that you'd expect to find on a smartphone, and although the touchscreen is an enormous improvement over the slow and unresponsive touchscreens found on previous smart fridges, it still feels pretty limited in terms of what can be accomplished using it. The apps are primarily designed to keep track of your food inventory and to set timers. But it's difficult to not be disappointed that Alexa isn't there.
